Oil & Gas

Exposure to harsh in-situ conditions imposes the need for robust, rugged electrical, electronic and fibre optic sensor types and architectures, with proven reliability, for long term monitoring of oil and gas well production, reservoir depletion and to optimise development strategies.


Qteq’s range of mature sensor technologies, designed to contend with a wide range of in-situ conditions and applications, is ideally suited to addressing such challenges.


Our design and supply of permanent downhole monitoring systems is based on a rigorous assessment of well conditions and client monitoring needs, by our dedicated Applications Engineering team, which is staffed with completions engineers and petroleum engineers.


Coal Seam Gas (CSG)

The responsible and efficient production of unconventional natural gas, from coal, requires bespoke, fit-for-purpose innovative characterisation, monitoring, completions and remediation systems, delivered in high volume, at an affordable price.


These are outcomes that have often eluded the coal seam gas (CSG) industry.


Qteq has amassed a portfolio of products and services that delivers those outcomes to optimise CSG well productivity, reduce operating costs, and boost recovery factors.

A variety of mining techniques is used to extract valuable minerals, usually found in ore bodies, lodes, veins, seams, reefs or placers. These include open pit mining, underground mining, solution mining and leach mining.

High grading such deposits involves extensive geophysical logging and gyroscopic surveys of exploration and blast holes.

Geotechnical surveys are also conducted to monitor open pit slope stability, underground tunnel stability and stability of tailing dams.

Qteq offers an extensive range of geophysical, geomechanical and geotechnical logging and borehole imaging tools. These are operated from purpose-built wireline units to meet client and regulatory requirements.

Carbon, Capture & Sequestration (CCS)

The aim of Carbon, Capture and Sequestration (CCS) is to prevent the release of large quantities of waste carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas (GHG), into the atmosphere. Capture of CO2 emissions by heavy industry and from heating is considered a potential means of mitigating the impact of this GHG on climate change and ocean acidification.

To provide ongoing assurance to communities that the CO2 remains locked in place, subsequent long term rigorous monitoring of CCS sites is essential.

Qteq offers a range of products and services to help identify suitable geological formations for permanent CO2 sequestration, characterise in-situ injection conditions and map the subsequent migration of CO2 plumes throughout the disposal formation.


We can also monitor the long term integrity of overlying geological traps, as well as mechanical integrity of injection and monitoring wells.


Surface Water & Groundwater

Surface water and groundwater are vital resources of social, agricultural, environmental and economic benefit, with known supplies dwindling through continuous population growth, agricultural intensification, and industrial expansion.


Hydrogeology studies play a critical role in locating, quantifying, protecting and managing the allocation of these dwindling supplies. These studies encompass the occurrence, distribution, movement and properties of water sources and their relationship with the environment within each phase of the hydrologic cycle.


Qteq provides a range of innovative technical solutions to help hydrogeologists develop an in-depth understanding of river flows, lakes, other surface water accumulations, the meteorological events that produce them, and the vertical and lateral extent of aquifers, aquifer flow potential, and to map groundwater movement into and out of these aquifers over time.

Disaster Mitigation

Climate change is increasing the severity and frequency of extreme weather events. These events can cause natural disasters, such as floods and bush fires, that pose a risk to the environment, infrastructure, communities and ecosystems.

Qteq build ruggedized Sentinel monitoring and alert pods that provide situational awareness of both weather and terrain, and that are designed to alert and protect communities from the impacts of natural disasters.

The Sentinels relay critical information to state recovery and resilience agencies, infrastructure authorities and councils, for public dissemination and to guide disaster response plans.
